I like mixing my acrylic paints until I don’t remember what colors I used. I like making canvas just to make the canvas, and I love leaving it in my room to gather dust. I like putting on over-sized glasses in the house, but I’m too self-conscious to wear them in public. I like speaking to myself in French, but speaking to others in Portuguese. I like skinny jeans and over-sized hoodies, big smiles and leather jackets, wearing a keffiyeh and not being Palestinian, eating when I’m not hungry just because food is offered, feeling good about myself, wearing make-up to cover up my blemishes, eating authentic ethnic food, elephants and snakes and leopards and owls and rams, walking around trendytowns just because I can, planning these epic hang-outs and never following through — “We’ll do it soon!,” really simple things and really complicated things that make me think, taking shots of Boru vodka in the kitchen at 3am, bright green eyes and dark green eyes, long and thick eyelashes, Polaroid cameras, falling asleep next to someone in the middle of the day, mothers thinking I’m Satan and not letting me near their children, the Indie Film Channel and the Sundance channel, artistic ability and composition, watching people from afar and hoping they don’t notice, wearing V-neck shirts with cut-off shorts, eating Cup Noodle Soup until it comes out of my ears, never wearing the right clothes for the weather. I love falling in love with someone I don’t even know, laughing so hard in public that people start staring, walking by myself in North Bloomfield just because I feel like it, falling asleep when there’s a rainstorm threatening to break down my house, midnight phonecalls that last for hours, being the best and winning a really competitive game, giving someone a present on their birthday and watching their face light up – it’s beautiful!, watching the sunrise with a cigarette in my hand and a load of worries in the other, and being around intimate friends.
My name is Bryan, and I hate it when people misspell my name.

BRYAN!
